Cool quotes and/or scriptures

Hey everyone! Welcome to Firehop's very own blog page. Things are just getting started, so please be patient with us. We want to cast the vision of a house of prayer in Pine Bluff while inviting musicians, singers, intercessors, and worshipers to join in and also to create a sense of community and connection through the technology and use of cyberspace. Please feel free to leave comments and please come back and visit us again later.

I thought it would be cool to fill this page with intriguing quotes from the "good book" or just from good people (favorite authors, presidents, etc.). So... here's a couple to get things going.

"A church without an intelligent, well-organized, and systematic prayer program is simply operating a religious treadmill."

Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land, you who do what He commands. Seek righteousness, seek humility; perhaps you will be sheltered on the day of the Lord's anger. - Zephaniah 2:3

One great man can not change the world, but one weak man in the hands of a great God can!

"Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." John 4:13-14

'"When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am the one I claim to be and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me. The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him." John 8:28-29

From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some youths came out of the town and jeered at him. "Go on up, you baldhead!" they said. "Go on up, you baldhead! He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths."

That's 2 Kings 2:23-24. It's always been really funny to me and there are days that I wish I could call up a bear just to see the look on some kids' faces when they are giving me lip!

But really, there are very serious overtones to that. God's sense of humor is AWESOME, but He intends for us to see how seriously he wants us to take his prophets and how deeply we should respect them. Oh, and not to make fun of the bald ones! ;)
